Karl Lagerfeld for CHANEL – Paris Dallas 2013/2014 Métiers d’Art. The location was meant to honor the brand’s long-standing relationship with America.

Welcome to the Wild, Wild West — by way of Chanel! When Karl Lagerfeld dropped the fashion community into Dallas, TX, for the annual Métiers d’Art show, the expectation was a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. On that promise, Karl delivered with a prairie-inspired collection influenced by Americana. With rich tweeds transitioning into Southwestern tapestries and worn-in denim, looks were accompanied by suede boots, lariats, cowboy hats, feathers, and fringe as far as the eye could see. They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and it doesn’t get bigger than Karl’s take on the Lone Star State.

Chanel’s show featured one of the newest makeup trends: eye art.

For the makeup, Peter Philips created the metallic face art to complement the collection. He started off with the new Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation (available Spring 2014), and the Éclat Lumiere Highlighter Face Pen to perfect the skin. The eyes were shaded with neutral hues from the Quadra Eye Shadow in Tissé Gabrielle (available late 2014), and he lined the eyes using Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense.

But the pièces de résistance were the signature Chanel tweed marks that were swiped across the models’ temples and cheeks. Philips used Chanel Blending Foundation Brush #7 to swipe the gold and platinum pigments onto the face.

The actress Kristen Stewart has been named the face of Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2014 campaign, which will be photographed by none other than the brand’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld. Stewart was among the guests at Chanel’s annual Métiers d’Art show Tuesday night, which Lagerfeld staged in Dallas, TX. The location was meant to honor the brand’s long-standing relationship with America — so it makes sense to pick an American woman to star in the coordinating campaign. The images are expected to be released next May.

The Twilight star has come to Chanel for a number of red carpet appearances, including for the dress she wore to the 2010 Met Gala. And she has the chops to make the campaign shine. In addition to gracing scores of magazine covers and fashion editorials, Stewart was previously the face of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica fragrance.
